Huskers Open Big Ten Baseball Tourney vs. Rutgers Wednesday

Nebraska has been seeded fourth in this week’s Big Ten baseball tournament.

The Huskers take on fifth-seeded Rutgers Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.  The winner of that game will face the winner of top-seeded Maryland and No. 8 Michigan State on Thursday at 6 p.m., while those games’ losers will meet in an elimination game Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Huskers wrapped up the regular season by taking two of three games at Purdue.  NU’s 6-4 win in the series finale on Saturday upped its record to 31-21-1 overall, 15-9 in the Big Ten.

Also on Saturday, Nebraska juniors Max Anderson and Brice Matthews were among 60 players named as semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy.  It’s awarded annually to the top baseball player in the country.
