Husker Men’s Basketball Falters Late in Overtime Loss at Iowa
Nebraska’s men’s basketball team let a 15-point second half lead slip away in a 97-87 overtime loss at Iowa last night.
The Huskers were up 52-37 with less than 15 minutes left in the game, but the Hawkeyes battled back to lead 74-70 until NU’s Brice Williams hit a 3-pointer with 1:04 remaining. With Nebraska down 76-73, Williams hit a shot from just past midcourt at the buzzer to send it into overtime tied at 76.
Iowa scored the first nine points of the extra period and went on to snap the Huskers’ six-game winning streak. Nebraska dropped to 12-3 and 2-2 in the Big Ten. Williams finished with 28 points and Juwan Gary had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Big Red plays at No. 20 Purdue Sunday. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. and the game will be televised on BTN.
