The Nebraska football team’s opener scheduled for Saturday against Wisconsin has been canceled.  Wisconsin officials made the announcement this morning, saying the Badgers’ positivity rate for COVID-19 reached a limit set by the Big Ten requiring conference teams to stop competing for at least seven days.

Wisconsin’s release said as of this morning, a total of 12 people within its football program had tested positive for the disease within the past five days.  The figure includes six players and six staff members, including head coach Paul Chryst.  Additional test results are pending.

The game will be declared a no contest and will not be rescheduled.

The Huskers’ next game is at Northwestern on Saturday, November 7th with kickoff slated for 11 a.m.
