Columbus High’s Jacey Hughes and Sarah Lasso qualified for next week’s girls golf state tournament, but the Discoverers missed qualifying as a team by one stroke.

As a team, CHS carded a 362 in yesterday’s A-4 district tourney at Elks Country Club.  But, Papillion-La Vista South shot a 361 to claim third place behind Omaha Westside and team champion Lincoln Pius X.

Hughes, a junior at Columbus, shot an 82 to finish third individually, one stroke and one spot better than her sophomore teammate, Lasso.

Pius sophomore Nicole Kolbas fired a 72 to win the district title by one stroke over Westside junior Kaitlyn Hanna.  The Warriors’ team score of 359 was just three strokes better than Columbus and 23 strokes behind the Thunderbolts.

The Class A state tournament will be held next Monday and Tuesday at Norfolk Country Club.
