Home Run Hitters at CWS to Be Challenged by Ballpark, Elite Pitching

The College World Series begins today in Omaha.

Five of the top 10 home-run hitting teams this season are in the eight-team field.  However, spacious Charles Schwab Field is notoriously stingy in allowing home runs.  And TCU coach Kirk Saarloos says the elite pitching could keep homers down.  Hitting into gaps, aggressive base running and the bunt game are all important at the CWS.

Today’s games pit TCU against Oral Roberts and Florida vs. Virginia.  On Saturday, Wake Forest meets Stanford and LSU faces Tennessee.
