Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg will give his team the day off on Election Day, November 3rd.

Hoiberg announced the move on Twitter yesterday.  He wrote: “We will encourage our student-athletes to register and use their right to vote so that their voices can be heard.”

Hoiberg is the first Nebraska coach to announce that decision.  But, there’s a growing movement among coaches in the nation urging the NCAA to take a break from athletics on Election Day.
