Highlights of Thursday’s Class C Track District Meets

The track and field teams from several area schools competed in Class C district meets on Thursday.

In the C-3 district hosted by Oakland-Craig, the North Bend Central girls topped the nine-team field, with Clarkson-Leigh finishing second.  Athletes who won multiple gold medals included the Tigers Emma Williams who was first in the 1600 and 3200 meters.  The Patriots Ava Kasik won the 100 and 300-meter hurdles.

In the C-3 boys meet, Brier Cerny of North Bend Central won gold in the 1600 and 3200 meters.  The Tigers had the best team finish among four area boys squads by placing sixth.

In the C-6 district at Centennial High, the Aquinas girls took first, outscoring runner-up David City 88-75.  The Monarchs Miriam Frasher won two gold medals in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles.  Sarah Forsberg of Cross County placed first in the long jump and triple jump.

St. Paul topped the C-6 boys team standings.  The Wildcats Gage Sack won gold in the 400 meters and long jump.  Reese Svoboba of David City earned three gold medals, winning the 100 and 200 meters and the triple jump.  And Garett Novacek of Aquinas won the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump.
