Henderson Wins Girls State Bowling Singles Title

Columbus High senior Madison Henderson is the girls state bowling singles champion. 

Henderson began today’s action in the first-ever state bowling tourney by rolling a four-game score of 801 to qualify as the number-1 seed. 

The top eight qualifiers advanced to the singles championship bracket, where Henderson defeated Hayleigh Johnson of Fremont High 364-306.  She got by Millard North’s Emily Merten 352-340 in the semifinals.  In the title match, Henderson beat Jamie Janke of Wayne 342-310. 

Two other CHS girls competed in the qualifying round today: Alex Holdsworth rolled a 590 to finish 18th and Zoi Goebel posted a 552 for 26th place out of 42 bowlers. 

Three Discoverers, Andrew Beck, Joseph McFarland and Wyatt Schott are pursuing an individual boys state title, which will be decided this evening.
