Columbus High’s girls’ golf team finished second in a triangular yesterday at Jackrabbit Run.

The Discoverers varsity carded a team score of 182, just three strokes behind Kearney and 36 strokes better than host Grand Island.

CHS junior Jacey Hughes had the top individual score at the triangular with a 40, while Columbus sophomore Sarah Lasso was second with a 42.

Discoverers coach Anne Robertson called it a great round by all the players, varsity and JV.  She added that summer practice was evident in the final score, which was 24 strokes better than last year.

Columbus has an 18-hole triangular on tap next Monday, when the Discoverers will compete at Norfolk Country Club against the host Panthers and Fremont.
