Gary, Williams Talk About Leading NU Men’s Basketball Team

Nebraska men’s basketball veterans Juwan Gary and Brice Williams met with the media yesterday to talk about the upcoming season.

Gary and Williams are the Huskers’ leading scorers and rebounders who return from last season.  Gary said despite NU losing Keisei Tominaga, the Huskers should be better in 3-point scoring due to having several players being able to knock down three or four 3’s a game.

He also knows he has to be a leader.    “It’s my last year in college, so it’s kind of a breaking point for me,” Gary said.  “It’s all gas, no brakes now.  Just leading a group of guys, just leaving that statement in Lincoln, Nebraska…this is the best season I’ve ever had and this is the best season Nebraska basketball’s ever seen.”

The soft-spoken Williams also says he’ll have to speak up and be a motivator in his second season at Nebraska.

The Huskers roster includes nine newcomers who will need to mesh together to get the Big Red back to the NCAA tournament, where they lost to Texas A&M in the first round last season.
