Former NU Guard Sirles Impressed by Running Back Depth

The Nebraska football team continued fall camp yesterday.  Former Nebraska guard Jeremiah Sirles was a guest Tuesday on Sports Nightly, aired on News Talk 900 KJSK.

Sirles was among many former Huskers invited to attend last Saturday’s scrimmage.  He said the number-one thing that stood out to him about the Huskers is their improved depth at running back.

Sirles said besides Rahmir Johnson last year, Nebraska’s running backs were “pretty much incapable.”  Now, besides Rahmir Johnson there’s Anthony Grant, Emmett Johnson, Jaquez Yant and “my personal favorite, young buck (freshman) Ajay Allen.”  Sirles predicts Allen is going to be a special football player because “he has a very quick burst through the hole.”

Sirles, who played for NU between 2010 and 2013 before a five-year NFL career, also said it was good to see running back Gabe Ervin back from injury.
