Former Husker Wright Places Ninth in Discus at Olympics
Former Nebraska national champion Chad Wright posted a top-10 finish in the discus at the Tokyo Olympics.
Competing for his native Jamaica, Wright recorded a throw of 62.93 meters in the preliminaries to earn one of 12 spots in the finals. In the finals, he placed ninth with a throw of 62.56 meters. Wright was the first Husker male thrower to earn a top-10 finish in the Olympics since Sam Francis placed fourth in the shot put at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Wright competed at Nebraska from 2011 to 2014, earning first-team All-American honors all four years of his career. He was the NCAA champion as a sophomore.
