Former Husker Schwellenbach To Make MLB Debut For Braves
Former Nebraska pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach was called up by the Atlanta Braves Tuesday.
He’s slated to make his Major League debut tonight in Atlanta, facing the Washington Nationals.
Schwellenbach was an All-American for the Huskers in 2021. He underwent Tommy John surgery before he began his professional career in the minors last season. He began this season at High-A Rome before being promoted to Double-A Mississippi. In eight starts for those two clubs, he went 4-1 and posted a 1.80 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 45 innings.
A second round pick out of NU in 2021, Schwellenbach will turn 24 years old this Friday.
