Former Husker McVeigh Sparks Australia Basketball to Win
Former Husker Jack McVeigh led Australia with a game-high 24 points off the bench in a 107-87 victory over China Tuesday.
McVeigh was 9-of-13 shooting, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range in just 13 minutes as Australia began its preparation for the Paris Olympics. McVeigh is one of 17 Australians vying for 12 roster spots on the national team.
Last season, he helped lead the Tasmania JackJumpers to the Australian National Basketball League championship. On the season, McVeigh averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and he was the MVP of the championship series against Melbourne United.
