Former Bluejay McGuire Named to U.S. Olympic Men’s Soccer Team
Former Creighton men’s soccer standout Duncan McGuire was named to the U.S. Olympic team on Monday.
The Paris Olympics will be the first time the U.S. men’s national team has qualified since the 2008 Games in Beijing. McGuire led Creighton to its sixth College Cup as a junior in 2022, when he led the NCAA with 23 goals and 50 points in 24 matches. He was named the Big East offensive player of the year and was a first-team all-conference selection.
After the 2022 season, McGuire was drafted sixth overall in the MLS draft by Orlando City FC. He scored 20 goals and had five assists in 48 matches for Orlando in his first pro season.
McGuire is the second former Bluejay named to a U.S. Olympic team this year, as Taryn Kloth will compete in beach volleyball.
