Schulyer and Cross County were among eight football teams that opened their season last Friday. 

In its first game since moving from Class B to C-1, the Warriors fell at home to Sandy Creek 37-20.  Schuyler plays at Nebraska City this week.

The D-1 Cougars rolled to a 70-12 victory at D-2 Blue Hill.  Cross County is on the road again this Friday to play at Clarkson/Leigh.  

In the Omaha World-Herald preseason football rankings published this weekend, Scotus is number 6 in C-1 and will open its season at top-ranked Wahoo this Friday. 

In C-2, Aquinas is number 3.  The Monarchs kick off their campaign at fourth-ranked Bishop Neumann on Friday. 

In D-1, Howells-Dodge is number 3.  The Jaguars open at home this week against East Butler.  Cross County is number 4, two spots ahead of Clarkson/Leigh. 

In D-2, Humphrey St. Francis is number 2 while Osceola is ranked fourth.  On Friday, the Flyers host Wynot while the Bulldogs visit Riverside.
