Flyers Win GRC Titles, More Tourneys This Week

A host of high school basketball tournaments are being played this week, as another one wrapped up on Saturday. 

Both Humphrey St. Francis teams won Goldenrod Conference titles Saturday night in St. Paul.  In the boys game, Tanner Pfeifer scored 36 points to lead the Flyers to a 60-53 victory over Riverside.  The St. Francis girls needed overtime to notch their fifth straight GRC title, a 47-44 win over Nebraska Christian. 

The Centennial Conference basketball tournament opens tonight.  In boys action, Scotus visits Lincoln Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. In the girls quarterfinals tomorrow, the Shamrocks will travel to Fremont for a 7 p.m. contest against Archbishop Bergan. 

The Central Conference tourney starts tonight, with the Lakeview boys visiting Grand Island Northwest at 6 p.m.  The Vikings girls will host a quarterfinal against Aurora Tuesday at 6. 

Three quarterfinals in the Crossroads Conference tournament will be aired today on 93.5 The Hawk.  In girls play, Cross County faces East Butler at 3 p.m.  In boys action, Osceola takes on High Plains at 4:30 and Cross County meets Exeter-Milligan at 7:30.
