Flyers, Tigers Move On To Girls State Hoops Semifinals
Humphrey St. Francis and North Bend Central were the two area teams to survive yesterday’s quarterfinals at the girls state basketball tournament.
The Flyers routed Sterling 73-41 to remain unbeaten. The top seed in D2 takes a 23-0 record into today’s semifinals. St. Francis meets 25-2 Mullen at 9 a.m. on KLIR 101.
North Bend will take the court at Pinnacle Bank Arena for a C1 semifinal tomorrow at 9 a.m. on KLIR. The Tigers crushed Broken Bow 50-29 in Wednesday’s quarterfinals, upping their record to 22-3. North Bend’s opponent tomorrow will be number-8 seed Winnebago, which upset top-seeded GICC 48-46.
In D1 action yesterday, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family was downed by Archbishop Bergan 50-42. The Bulldogs finished 19-5. And BDS fell to Weeping Water 55-45 with the Eagles winding up 18-8.
In C2, the Centennial girls bowed to Crofton 62-37, as the Broncos ended at 23-3.
