Escaped Convict Arrested In Columbus After Standoff

COLUMBUS- An escaped convict was arrested Monday in Columbus after a standoff with officers.

The Columbus Police, Platte County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team arrested Eric Kluthe at a residence in the 3100 block of 21st Street. Kluthe was wanted for escape from a Lincoln correctional facility where he was serving a sentence for assault, possession of controlled substance, strangulation, and possession of a firearm.

Kluthe was arrested without incident after a several hour stand off.
