District Soccer: CHS Boys Post Upset Win, Girls Fall

The Columbus High boys soccer team pulled off an upset win at top-seeded Creighton Prep in district action on Saturday.  The fourth-seeded Discoverers edged the Junior Jays 1-0 in overtime.  It was the seventh straight win for CHS after the Discoverers started the season losing seven of their first eight matches. 

Columbus visits Grand Island Thursday.  The second-seeded Islanders are 9-5 after blanking Omaha Northwest 3-0 in the A-4 district semifinals. 

Meantime, the Discoverers girls lost in overtime Saturday at the CHS Turf Field.  Number-3 seed Bellevue East shaded number-2 seed Columbus 1-0 in the A-5 district semifinals.  CHS finished at 10-5.
