Discoverers Defense Looks To Slow Down Porter Tonight

Columbus High’s football team will try to snap a two-game losing skid tonight when the Discoverers visit Omaha North.

Columbus has struggled with injuries in starting the season 1-2.  The Vikings are 1-1 and are coming off a 14-13 win at Millard West last week.  In that game, North senior running back Te’Shaun Porter ran for 255 yards, topping 200 yards rushing for a second straight week.  Porter also threw a 45-yard halfback pass for a deciding touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Columbus coach Craig Williams knows slowing down Porter will be a big key to tonight’s contest.  “It’s going to be about getting hats to the ball,” Williams said.  “Like Coach (Mark) Brown, our defensive coordinator described it, he comes through that line and he looks for defenders with bad intentions.  He doesn’t look to shy away from contact.  He is looking to run you over.”

You can hear tonight’s game on KLIR 101.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
