Discoverers Boys Soccer Punches Ticket to State Tournament

The Columbus High boys soccer team is headed to next week’s state tournament.

In last night’s A-5 district final at Millard West, the third-seeded Discoverers knocked off the top-seeded Wildcats 1-0.  Columbus is 9-7 and will make its second straight appearance in the state tourney and its 15th in program history.

The Class A quarterfinals at Morrison Stadium will be played Tuesday, but the Discoverers won’t know their opponent or kickoff time until after Saturday’s Class B district finals are played.

In tonight’s girls soccer action, No. 1 seed Columbus will host second-seeded Elkhorn South in a district final.  A win would send the Discoverers to next Monday’s girls state quarterfinals.
