Discoverers Baseball Falls to Knights in HAC Tourney Semifinals

Columbus High’s baseball team was downed by Lincoln Southeast 8-4 in yesterday’s semifinals of the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament in Lincoln. 

The Discoverers scored four runs in the top of the second inning, with Bentley Willison driving in three with a triple, to take a 4-1 lead.  But, Columbus had just three other hits in the game, while the Knights rallied for four runs in the third, two in the fourth and another in the fifth.  The loss snapped the Discoverers’ five-game winning streak and dropped them to 6-7. 

Columbus welcomes Hastings to Pawnee Park tomorrow.  The 3:00 p.m. contest will be aired on KLIR 101. 

Today at 4:30 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk, Twin River hosts Fairbury.
