Discoverer Football’s Winning Streak Halted by Spartans

Columbus football’s four-game winning streak was snapped in a 27-14 loss to Lincoln East at Pawnee Park’s Memorial Stadium last night.

The Discoverers scored first on a five-yard touchdown run by Michael Voichoskie late in the first quarter.  But, the Spartans scored the game’s next 24 points, taking a 14-7 lead by halftime and upping it to 24-7 on a pick-6 with 47 seconds left in the third quarter.

CHS quarterback Will Wickham connected with Connor Kallweit on a 25-yard touchdown pass to make it 24-14 early in the final period, but the Discoverers never got closer.  Both teams now own 4-3 records and are 1-1 in District A-3 play.

Columbus will visit Kearney next Friday.
