Eleven-year old Faith Samek of David City was named today as a track and field athlete of the year for the 2021 Cornhusker State Games.

Samek was one of six athletes chosen from over 10,000 participants.  Those six will be honored in a Nebraska Sports Council awards ceremony later this year.

Samek has competed in the CSG track and field meet since 2016.  She has won eight gold medals, six silver and one bronze.  This year, she won the 100-meters and was second in the 400 and long jump.
