CU’s Kalkbrenner Named Big East Player of the Week
Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner has been named the first Big East Player of the Week of the men’s basketball season.
He averaged 36.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game as the Bluejays cruised to a pair of double-digit victories. Kalkbrenner shot better than 90 percent from the field, going 29-for-32 including 3-for-3 from three-point range. He also made 92-plus percent of his free throw attempts, hitting 12 of 13.
The Jays moved up one spot in both polls, now being ranked 14th by the Associated Press and 13th by coaches.
