CU Hoops Freshmen Help U.S., Canada Win Again

A pair of Creighton freshman helped the United States and Canada as both teams improved to 4-0 at the U19 Basketball World Cup yesterday.

Ryan Kalkbrenner had 12 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots as the U.S. opened bracket play with a 132-60 rout of Korea. His fellow Bluejay Ryan Nembhard posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists as Canada rolled past Puerto Rico 86-56.

Should both squads win their next game tomorrow, the U.S. and Canada will meet in Saturday’s semifinals.
