CU Great Paul Silas Dies at Age 79

Creighton basketball great Paul Silas has died at the age of 79.

Silas led the Bluejays to the NCAA tournament in 1962 and 1964.  He’s the only player in NCAA history with three or more seasons of 557 rebounds and owns the top three single-season rebound totals in CU history.

Silas was a two-time NBA All-Star and five-time NBA All-Defensive team member.  He won three NBA titles in the ‘70s – two with Boston and another with Seattle.  Silas also coached in the NBA for 12 seasons.

He reportedly died of a heart attack on Saturday night.
