The Creighton men’s basketball club opened the New Year and Big East play with a 92-75 win over Marquette last night in Omaha. 

Ty-Shon Alexander scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had a career-high six steals for the Bluejays. CU’s Mitch Ballock led all scorers with 24 points on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. 

Creighton stretched its winning streak to eight games and posted its 15th straight home victory. The Jays moved to 12-2, while Marquette fell to 10-3.

Creighton travels to Indianapolis on Saturday to face number 11 Butler.  Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. and the game will be broadcast on FS1.
