Creighton AD Rasmussen to Retire August 16

Creighton athletic director Bruce Rasmussen announced today that he’ll retire next month, with his last day being August 16th.

Rasmussen has spent 41 years at Creighton, including 27 years as AD.  In that time, the Bluejays have risen to national prominence by winning 43 regular-season conference titles and 43 conference tournaments.  Creighton has also built new facilities for nearly every sports program, and celebrated record-breaking fundraising campaigns.

In 2019, Rasmussen became Division I’s first four-time recipient of the Athletic Director of the Year Award.  For five years, he was on the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Selection Committee, serving as its chairman in his final year in 2018.  He also played a key role in Creighton and the city of Omaha remaining as hosts of the College World Series and was one of six individuals who helped select the location for TD Ameritrade Park.
