After losing its opening round game in the Class A state tournament in Lincoln on Saturday, the Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors avoided elimination yesterday.

Making its first state tourney appearance since 2018, Cornerstone fell to Lincoln Northeast 5-2 on Saturday night in a game that featured a one-hour-two-minute lightning delay.  On Sunday, Columbus led Millard North 4-0 going into the bottom of the seventh and held on for a 4-2 victory.

Cornerstone, which is now 21-10 on the season, is scheduled to play Hastings today at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.
