Cook Clarifies Caffey Did Not Have Scholarship This Fall

Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook issued a news release last night to clarify something he said yesterday during Big Ten media days in Chicago.

Kayla Caffey, who entered the transfer portal last week, said in her social media post that she wouldn’t have a scholarship if she stayed at NU.  On Monday afternoon, Cook said that “she had everything covered.”

Cook’s release clarified Caffey did not have a scholarship for this fall.  He said she had been “working on outside NIL deals that would cover her expenses, but she notified me last week she was going to enter the transfer portal.”

Cook said Caffey was a “great Husker.”  He added: “While we anticipated having her be a part of this year’s team, I respect that this is a personal decision for her.”
