Columbus Woman Dies After Being Struck By Truck

COLUMBUS- A Columbus woman has died after being struck by a pickup.

At 12:52 a.m. Thursday, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian accident on E. 8th St. The investigation indicated that a pickup, driven by 56-year-old Michael Hieb of Duncan, had been traveling westbound on E. 8th St., when the pickup he was driving stuck 19-year-old Jaqueline Robledo of Columbus, who was walking westbound on E. 8th St. Robledo was transported to Columbus Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The pickup driven by Hieb did not stop at the scene but continued on. Hieb and the pickup were located a few minutes later by law enforcement. Hieb was arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Fatality Accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
