Columbus Softball Still Alive After First Day of District Tourney
Columbus High’s softball team went 1-1 in the opening day of the A-6 district tournament on Wednesday.
The Discoverers, seeded fourth, were downed by No. 1 seed Elkhorn South 6-1 in the opening game. CHS bounced back to double up third-seeded Omaha South 12-6 in an elimination contest.
Meanwhile, No. 2 seed Papillion-La Vista South is in the driver’s seat of the tournament after blanking Omaha South 8-0, then knocking off the host Storm 7-1. Columbus will have a rematch against Elkhorn South today at 2 p.m. The winner will need to beat the Titans twice this afternoon and evening to win the district title.
