Columbus Seniors Get Swept in Twin Bill at North Platte
The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors were swept in a doubleheader Sunday in North Platte.
Cornerstone lost the opener 2-1 in eight innings, then dropped a 10-6 decision.
In the first game, North Platte tied the game at 1-all with a run in the bottom of the sixth, before scoring the winning run in the eighth. Columbus starter Spencer Shotkoski pitched a complete game, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits over 7.1 innings. He walked one and struck out three.
The second game was tied at 2-all after five frames, but North Platte erupted for eight runs in the sixth. All but one of the home team’s 10 runs in the contest were unearned, as Cornerstone’s defense was charged with nine errors. Keiton Watchorn and Connor Cameron each had two hits and two RBI for Columbus.
The Seniors fell to 5-4 on the season. They’re scheduled to welcome Hastings to Pawnee Park Legion Field Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
