Columbus Police Arrest Man After Early Morning Standoff

COLUMBUS- The Columbus Police Department arrested a man Wednesday for Disturbing the Peace, First-Degree Criminal Trespass and Obstruction of a Police Animal.

At 1:12 a.m. CPD officers were dispatched to 1451 21st Ave. in reference to a male subject that entered the residence without permission. Officers reported that 35-year-old Daniel Johnson could be heard yelling and screaming from inside the residence. Johnson, who had recent arrests for assault and resisting arrest, was instructed by officers to exit the residence in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Johnson refused all instructions to exit the residence. Police soon evacuated neighboring residents. At 4:37 a.m. Johnson was taken into custody with the assistance of PSD Eros and the CPD drone operators.

Johnson received minor injuries from a dog bite.
