Columbus Baseball Season Ends in District Semifinals

Columbus High’s baseball club romped in its first district tournament game, but saw its season end the next day. 

On Friday night, the Discoverers rolled to a 28-0 win in four innings over Omaha Benson.  In Saturday’s A-6 semifinals, Columbus was edged by top-seeded Lincoln Southeast 2-1 at Sherman Field in Lincoln.  The Discoverers ended their season with a 13-14 record. 

The Knights went on to defeat Lincoln North Star 3-2 in the district final.  Southeast is 22-6 going into the state tourney. 

In other districts, Twin River was blanked by Waverly 10-0 in a B-2 first round game Friday night.  Central City/Fullerton/Centura was shaded by Hastings 4-3 in eight innings in a B-3 semifinal on Saturday.
