Columbus Baseball Beats Bergan, Sweeps Lincoln Northeast

Columbus High’s baseball team went 3-0 this weekend. 

The Discoverers won at Archbishop Bergan 3-2 on Friday night.  The Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.  But, CHS scored a run in the top of the eighth for the win.  Brent Beard had two doubles in four at-bats and scored a run. 

Playing at home on Saturday, Columbus swept a doubleheader from Lincoln Northeast.  Jarrett Bell was 3-for-4 with one RBI and three runs to help the Discoverers romp 9-2 in the opener.  Bell added three more hits and scored a run as Columbus won the second game 6-3.  CHS is 13-10 and will host Lincoln Southeast tomorrow.
