Cinderella ORU, No. 1 Wake Forest, Four Others Make CWS

Oral Roberts will be the Cinderella team in this year’s College World Series.

The Golden Eagles, who were a No. 4 seed in the regionals, won two straight games after losing the opener of this weekend’s Super Regional at Oregon.  Oral Roberts is the lowest-seeded club to reach the CWS since Stony Brook in 2012.

No. 1 national seed Wake Forest hit a record-tying nine home runs yesterday as the Demon Deacons crushed Alabama 22-5.  The 2-0 series sweep sends Wake to Omaha for the first time since it won the championship in 1955.

Four other teams won Super Regional titles this weekend, including Florida, Virginia, LSU and TCU.  Two other best-of-three series are tied at 1-1, with deciding games on tap tonight when Tennessee visits Southern Miss and Texas plays at Stanford.
