Columbus High’s swimming-and-diving teams split with Fremont in their season opening dual yesterday at CHS. 

The Discoverers girls won 110-57, while the Tigers boys prevailed 90-72.

On the girls’ side, Emily Miksch of Columbus won the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke and was part of winning the 200 medley relay.  Maddisen Schulz won the 50 freestyle and was part of victories in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. And Shae Drymon was first in the 100 freestyle and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team.

In boys’ action, Josue Mendez won the 50 freestyle and helped the 200 freestyle relay team win.

The Discoverers will next compete in an invitational tomorrow in Hastings.
