Just back in action last week after COVID-19 concerns, the Columbus High softball team went 0-2 in a home triangular on Saturday.

The Discoverers only trailed Norfolk 3-2 after six innings, but the Panthers scored four runs in the top of the seventh to win 7-2.  Norfolk then downed Beatrice 6-4 for the Panthers’ 14th straight win to improve to 21-4.

In the final contest, CHS and Beatrice needed nine innings to decide the winner, as each team scored two runs in the eighth, but the visitors outscored Columbus 3-1 in the ninth for a 7-5 victory.

The Discoverers are 4-9 and are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Fremont on Monday.
