The Columbus High boys’ basketball team played its most competitive game of the season last night, before falling at Fremont 83-79. 

Sam Kwapnioski led the Discoverers with 20 points, Blake Thompson and Ernest Hausmann each had 18 and Ean Luebbe returned from a sprained ankle to tally 17.  The loss dropped CHS to 0-9. 

Meantime, the Discoverers girls bowed to the third-ranked Tigers 87-43.  Columbus fell to 2-7. 

Both Discoverers clubs are off until Saturday, when they host Lincoln High.
