CHS Boys Edged in OT of Season Opener at Omaha South

The high school basketball season opened Thursday night for many teams. 

Columbus High’s boys fell at Omaha South 69-67 in overtime in the first round of the OPS Invite.  The Discoverers trailed 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, but rallied to tie the game 24-all at the half. 

CHS and South each scored 30 points in the second half, before the home club outscored Columbus 15-13 in the overtime period.  Quinn Freshour led the Discoverers with 21 points and Ryder Bock had 14.   

The tournament continues on Saturday, with Columbus facing Grand Island in a 1:30 p.m. game at Omaha South.
