CHS Baseball Opens by Sweeping Norfolk in Doubleheader

Columbus High’s baseball team opened its season by sweeping Norfolk in a doubleheader last night. 

The Discoverers won the opener 12-2 in five innings and took the nightcap 4-1 at Pawnee Park Field. 

In the first game, Colin Flyr went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run and Columbus scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to cap the scoring.  Flyr also got the win, allowing just two unearned runs over four innings. 

Ryan Eickhoff pitched 5-and-a-third scoreless innings in the nightcap, surrendering just one hit and four walks while striking out seven. 

Columbus plays at Seward today and visits Papillion-La Vista tomorrow.
