Elkhorn High’s Drew Christo, who has verbally committed to Nebraska, was named the Gatorade Nebraska Baseball Player of the Year yesterday.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander went 5-2 with a 0.43 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 48-and-two-thirds innings last season, leading the Antlers to the Class B state playoffs.  Christo was also an outfielder who hit .341 with five home runs and 39 RBI this spring.

The son of former Nebraska quarterback Monte Christo, Drew is the state’s number-one MLB draft prospect, according to Perfect Game.
