Chinander on Northwestern, Defense in Scrimmage

Nebraska defensive coordinator Erik Chinander says the Huskers’ practice yesterday was the first one that began to focus on NU’s first opponent – Northwestern.  Chinander said he has a lot of respect for Northwestern, saying Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald “always brings a very disciplined operation.”

Chinander was also asked how his unit looked last Sunday during Nebraska’s second fall scrimmage.  “I was pleased with the pass rush,” Chinander said. “I thought overall, (it was) a much better scrimmage than the first time.  Tackling was good.  We had one really big bust that led to a touchdown, so that’s got to get cleaned up…a few communication errors.”

The Huskers are back on the practice field today as they get ready for the opener on Saturday, August 27th in Dublin, Ireland.  Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.  The pregame starts at 7:30 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 11 a.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
