Central City, Howells-Dodge, Osceola Make Boys State Hoops Tourney

Central City is headed to the boys state basketball tournament for the first time since 1947. 

After coming up one win shy of earning a trip to state the past two years, the Bison beat Wayne 43-38 in the C1-7 district final last night.  With the home win, Central City hiked its record to 24-3 heading into next week’s state tournament. 

In a Class C2 district final, Cross County fell at Norfolk Catholic 44-30.  The Cougars finished 21-5. 

Howells-Dodge punched its ticket to the D1 boys state tourney, while Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family was denied.  The Jaguars defeated Bridgeport 56-34 in Lexington, improving to 20-6.  The Bulldogs bowed to Dundy County Stratton 51-36 in Kearney, as H/LHF ended at 16-10. 

Osceola is headed to the D2 state tournament following a 64-45 home victory over Friend.  Osceola’s Bulldogs are 23-3.
