Cedar County Accident Claims Life Of Hartington Man

CROFTON- A Hartington man has died after a crash in Cedar County.

At 5:21 p.m. Monday, the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 81. An eastbound pickup driven by 86 year old Jacob Keiter failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. A southbound Pickup driven by 45 year old Shane Pedersen of Pierce then collided with Keiter’s truck in the intersection. Keiter was transported to a Yankton Hospital and was later transferred to a Sioux Falls Hospital where he later died. Keiter was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Pedersen was wearing his seatbelt.
