Bryce McGowens became Nebraska’s highest-drafted player since 1998 last night. He was selected in the second round with the 40th pick overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who traded him to Charlotte.
McGowens became the Huskers’ highest NBA draft pick since Tyronn Lue was taken No. 23 overall in 1998. His selection also made him the third NU player drafted in a four-year span.
As a freshman last season, McGowens earned Big Ten Newcomer of the Year honors from the Associated Press after averaging 16.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
