Brenyn Delano, Mason Petersen Win State Wrestling Titles

Columbus High wrestlers Brenyn Delano and Mason Petersen both claimed gold medals at the state meet Saturday in Omaha.

Delano, a Discoverers senior, earned his first state title and his fourth state medal after going 4-0 in the A126 bracket.  Petersen, a sophomore who finished third in the 2023 state meet, took first at 138 pounds this year.

Jaeston Delano, Brenyn’s younger brother, won a silver medal.  After earning a sixth place medal last year as a freshman, he fell in this year’s 165-pound final to an unbeaten opponent.  Three other Discoverers won medals today, as Kaden Brownlow took fourth (A150), while Laitenn Braithwait (A132) and Tyler Zwingman (A190) each placed sixth.

In the Class A boys team standings, Columbus tied Kearney for third.  Millard South won its 13th team title and sixth in a row.
